Re: inflation at 5.1% part of podcast.
I think it is important to flag to listeners that the Bank of Canada is supposed to be independent from the federal government. However, I felt this weeks podcast did not make that explicitly clear, but muddled the responsibility somewhere between Trudeau and bank policy makers. Trudeau would be over reaching if he were to try to influence the decisions of the BoC interest rates path, harkeaning back to Trump’s multiple attempts to sway decisions of the Fed and to remove Jerome Powell from being the Fed Chair.
